The Eggbutt cheek piece prevents pinching of the lips and gives a solid feel against the side of the face. It also prevents the bit being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower than the loose ring and also introduces light poll pressure.
Bomber’s new Control Plate Cable applies light pressure on the tongue. The Control Plate Cable applies softer pressure than the Elliptical Cable due to a larger surface area. The plate is set at a 45 degree angle to allow it to sit flat on the tongue. The cable offers a “spring-back” action that together with the elimination of the links joining the 3 pieces, further reduces pressure in all areas, making this softer than the conventional Control Plate.

Both my young warmbloods like this bit. Very little fussing, communication is straightforward. The metal only contacts the areas where the bit has action, so not a mouthful of messaging going on.
